SCOPEPILOT — CHROME DESKTOP SETUP (v1.0.1)

This is a preview build, installed manually. It is not a Chrome Web Store listing.
Use current Chrome on Mac, Windows or Linux (minimum Chrome 116).

1. Unzip the download. On Mac, double-click it; on Windows, choose Extract All.
2. Keep the extracted scopepilot-extension folder in a permanent location.
Do not delete or move it while the extension is installed.
3. Type chrome://extensions into Chrome's address bar and press Enter.
4. Switch Developer mode on (top right).
5. Click Load unpacked. Select the folder containing manifest.json.
Select the folder itself, not the ZIP or manifest.json file.
6. Find the ScopePilot card and confirm its switch is on.
7. Click Chrome's puzzle icon beside the address bar. Pin ScopePilot, then click
its icon to open the side panel. You can also open it from the puzzle menu.

FIRST USE
Click Try a sample brief, choose your hourly rate, and click Generate Proposal
+ Scope Breakdown. Review the draft, then use Copy Proposal. Nothing is sent
to a client automatically. Hours and prices are illustrative estimates.

For your own work, paste a brief. To capture text, open a normal website,
click the ScopePilot icon on that tab, then Capture Active Tab. Highlight text
first to capture just that selection. You can also highlight and right-click
to choose Generate Proposal & Scope with ScopePilot AI.

PERMISSIONS AND STORAGE
ScopePilot opens a side panel, stores settings and captured text locally,
adds a selection context menu, and reads the current page after you invoke it.
It does not request ongoing access to Gmail, LinkedIn or other websites.
It does not send briefs to an OnBits or third-party server. If Chrome's built-in
LanguageModel API is available, it may refine the draft on-device; otherwise
the extension uses its local template rules.

TROUBLESHOOTING
- Manifest missing: choose the inner folder that actually contains manifest.json.
- Capture unavailable: Chrome settings, the Web Store and other protected pages
cannot be read. Paste text instead. On a new site, click the extension icon again.
- No panel: check the ScopePilot card is enabled and click its toolbar icon.
- Old version: replace files in the same folder, then click Reload on its card.
- To uninstall: open chrome://extensions and click Remove on the ScopePilot card.
- Work-managed Chrome: ask your browser administrator if manual installs are disabled.
